Directed by John Akomfrah and written and researched by Edward George (Black Audio Film Collective) in 1996, The Last Angel of History is a sci-fi documentary-style film looking at Africa, the diaspora, history and memory through the lens of Afrofuturism. Real-life segments include clips from writers, musicians and social commentators as they discuss Black culture, in particular the influence of funk musician George Clinton, with archival video footage and photographs.
The Last Angel of History will be available on our website for 24 hours on 30 December 2020. This is the third in a series of four online screenings. Future dates will be announced closer to the time of publication.
