Pyramid Schemes

Pyramid Schemes, 2018

Video Essay, 17’10’’

Working in the field of virtual reality and simulation, Lek explores themes around the human experience of space, not only as physical constructions, but of the potential of architecture beyond the material environment, as a language in itself. Drawing on his own training in architecture and inspired by the writings of French philosopher Victor Hugo, Pyramid Schemes presents the viewer with an immersive virtual experience that takes us on a journey through times and places from history. In this way, architecture is understood as a form of memory and a method of the communication and assertion of political power beyond the use of the written word.
