Suzanne Treister (b. 1958, London, UK) lives and works in London. Recent solo shows include Serpentine Galleries, London, UK (2019) and CAPC – musée d'art contemporain de Bordeaux, Bordeaux, France (2018). Most recent group exhibitions and biennales include National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts, Taiwan (2020); Moderna Museet, Stockholm, Sweden (2019); and Liverpool Biennial, Liverpool, UK (2016).
Treister is considered a pioneer in digital art and the field of new media. Since the beginning of the ‘90s, she has been producing work focused on emerging technologies and developed fictional worlds. Her work is an exploration of the potential futures of humanity structured around new technologies, society and alternative belief systems. Treister’s practice is developed through the use of various media, including video, internet projects, interactive technologies, photography, drawing and watercolour.
