Yael Kanarek (b. 1967, New York, USA) lives and works in New York. Biennales and major group shows include Minnesota Street Project, San Francisco, USA (2017); The Jewish Museum New York, New York, USA (2008); and Whitney Biennial, New York, USA (2002).
Kanarek is considered among the pioneers of the use of the internet and of multilingualism in works of art. Her practice explores the relationship between language and emotion through storytelling and translation. Her multimedia work enters spaces of meaning determined by a global network and the negotiation of identity that occurs when confronted with multiple systems.
